How much does rubbish removal cost in Newport?
Between £89 and £300 for the vast majority of jobs — priced by how much of the truck your rubbish fills, with the loading, the tip fees and your waste transfer note all inside that number. Here is the whole ladder, what moves it up or down, and what a real job actually comes to.
Four prices, published in full
We price by volume, not by the hour and not by the item. Your rubbish takes up a share of a 3.5-tonne tipper, and that share is what you pay for. These are guide prices — your firm number comes back from your photos — but they are the real ladder, not a teaser rate.

Heavy materials like soil, rubble and tiles hit the truck's weight limit long before they fill it, so they may be priced by weight as well as by volume — we always tell you that before we start, never afterwards.
Three things that are inside the price, not on top of it
The reason a rubbish-removal quote is hard to compare is that different firms count different things as "the price". Here is exactly what ours covers, so you know what to ask anyone else.
All of the lifting
The crew does the loading — out of the loft, down the stairs, up the garden, into the truck. You point at what is going and stand back. You are not hiring a container and then doing the work yourself, which is the single biggest hidden cost in clearing anything.
The tip fees
Disposal at a permitted site is the largest real cost in any load, and it is already inside the number you were quoted. There is no gate fee, weighbridge charge or "disposal surcharge" arriving separately afterwards.
Your waste transfer note
The legal duty-of-care record showing where your waste went, issued on completion and kept on file. As a registered waste carrier we take every load to a permitted site — that paperwork is your proof, and it is never a paid extra.
No hourly clock
Nothing here is priced by the hour. A tight parking spot, a narrow hallway or a slow morning is our problem to solve, not a meter running against you. One number, agreed before we lift anything.
What real jobs come to
Every job is still quoted from your own photos — these are the shapes we see most often and the rung they usually land on. Treat them as a sighting shot, not a promise.
One or two big items
- A three-seater sofa going out of a front room
- A fridge-freezer and a washing machine together
- A double mattress with its bed frame
- Roughly ten bin bags after a bedroom sort-out
Usually a quarter load — from £89. If more than one of these is going, send them all in one set of photos: it is the same visit and it costs far less than booking twice. More on single items and part loads.
A room, a shed or a garden
- A single bedroom or box room emptied
- A garden shed cleared and broken down
- A few bags of cuttings plus old garden furniture
- A small office or a storage unit handed back
Usually a half load — around £165. Sheds are the one people underestimate: what looks like a small structure is often most of a half load once it is out on the drive. See domestic and commercial collections.
A couple of rooms or a garage
- Two rooms emptied ahead of a re-let
- A garage that has been filling up for years
- A loft cleared out before a move
- A flat handed back at end of tenancy
Usually a three-quarter load — around £235. This is the most common rung for an end-of-tenancy clear where the tenant took the obvious things and left the rest.
A whole house
- A furnished two- or three-bed house cleared throughout
- A probate property emptied for sale
- A garage or outbuilding packed to the rafters
- A strip-out with the contents still in place

Builders' waste is the exception to all of the above. Soil, rubble, hardcore and tiles are dense — a load of rubble reaches the truck's 3.5-tonne limit at roughly a third of the box, so it is priced by weight as well as volume and does not follow the volume ladder cleanly. Four things that change what you pay — and nothing else
These are the only levers. If a quote from anyone moves for a reason that is not on a list like this one, it is worth asking why.
How much of the truck it fills
The main lever, and the one you can see for yourself. Quarter, half, three-quarter or full — that is the ladder above, and it is why photos get you a firm number so quickly.
How fast you need it gone
Standard — within three days — adds nothing, and that's the only speed on offer right now. Same-day (+£50) and next-day (+£25) start when we open in mid-October 2026.
How heavy it is
A tipper runs out of weight before it runs out of space on soil, rubble, tiles and concrete. Those loads may be priced by weight as well as volume. Ordinary household and garden waste never hits that limit, so this only affects trade and renovation jobs.
How far out you are
No fuel charge at all within 10 miles of our Newport base. Beyond that, out to the edge of our 30-mile radius, a small fuel charge applies — and it is inside the quote you are given, never bolted on afterwards. Check the areas we cover.
Access is not on that list, and that is deliberate. We ask about parking, stairs, lifts and carry distance when you book so they are priced in from the start. Nothing is added on the day for something you already told us.
A bigger load costs less per quarter, not more
Most of what a collection costs is fixed per visit — the drive out, the quote, the trip to the permitted site, the paperwork. None of that gets cheaper because there is less in the truck, which is why the ladder is not four equal steps.
Four quarter loads booked separately come to 4 × £89 = £356. One full load is £300. Filling the truck in a single visit saves you £56 and three appointments. So if there is a shed, a garage and a spare room all waiting to be dealt with, it is genuinely worth doing them together rather than one at a time — and worth saying so up front so we bring the right truck.
The same logic runs the other way, too: if your job is smaller than you thought, you pay the smaller rung. We would rather quote a quarter load honestly than talk you into filling a half.
Photos in, fixed price back
A guide ladder gets you within range. Getting the actual number takes about two minutes.

When you are better off not paying anyone
We would rather tell you this than have you find out afterwards. There are three situations where hiring us is the wrong call, and we will say so if you ask.
You can move it yourself
- Newport City Council runs a household waste recycling centre at Docks Way
- If it fits in your car and you have a spare morning, that is the cheapest route there is
- Check the council's own site for current opening times and their rules on vans, trailers and permits before you set off
What you are paying us for is the lifting, the vehicle and the paperwork. If none of those are a problem for you, keep your money.
It is genuinely still usable
- Sound furniture, working appliances and decent white goods often have somewhere better to go
- Several charities collect reusable furniture free, though most will not take anything without a fire label
- It keeps a usable item out of a tipper, which is the outcome we would pick too
We look for reuse on every clearance for the same reason. If half your load is re-homeable, sorting that first shrinks the load size — and the price.
It is something we cannot legally take
- Asbestos — common in older garage and shed roofs
- Gas bottles, chemicals, oils and other hazardous waste
- These need a specialist carrier, not a general one
If we find any of it mid-job we stop and point you at the right people rather than risk it. That is not a price question, it is a licensing one.
One thing that is never worth saving money on: who takes it away. If someone clears your house cheaply and fly-tips it in a lane, the waste is still traceable to you and the liability is still yours. Ask anyone quoting you for their waste carrier registration and for a waste transfer note on completion. The things people ask before they book
How much does it cost to clear a house in Newport?
A full house clearance is usually a full load — £300 as a guide, with labour, disposal and the waste transfer note included. A smaller property, or one where a lot has already been taken out, often comes in at a three-quarter load (£235) or a half load (£165). Send photos or a short walk-round video and we will give you one fixed number for the whole job before you commit to anything.
Do you charge by the hour?
No. Every job is priced per job, by how much of the truck it fills. An hourly rate means the price goes up if the job is awkward, if parking is tight, or if the crew has a slow morning — none of which is your problem. You get one number before we start, and that is the number you pay.
What is the minimum charge for rubbish removal?
£89. That is the quarter-load price and it is the entry point — a single sofa, a washing machine, a fridge-freezer, a mattress and bed frame, or around ten bin bags all sit inside it as a guide. There is no smaller tier, because the cost of getting a truck and a crew to your door does not get smaller.
Do you charge extra for stairs, or for parking a long way from the door?
No — not as an extra afterwards. We ask about parking, stairs, lifts and how far the carry is when you book, so those details are priced into the fixed number you are given. The point of asking up front is that nothing gets added on the day for something we could have known about.
How much does it cost to remove a sofa or a mattress in Newport?
From £89 — the quarter-load price. A three-seater sofa, a double mattress with its bed frame, a washing machine, a fridge-freezer or a single armchair each sit inside a quarter load as a guide. If you have two or three of those going at once it is worth sending them all in one photo set: filling more of the truck in one visit costs less per item than booking twice.
What happens if there is more rubbish than the photos showed?
We tell you before we start, not after we finish. The quote is confirmed against the actual load on arrival, and it only changes if there is materially more or less than the photos showed. If it is more, that is a second quote you agree to — never a surprise on the invoice. If it is less, you are not paying for space you did not use.
Is same-day rubbish collection more expensive?
Same-day and next-day collection are suspended until we open in mid-October 2026 — every job is standard collection (within three days) at the ladder price, no premium. From launch, same-day adds £50 to the load price (subject to what is already booked that day) and next-day adds £25.
Do you charge extra to come outside Newport?
We cover Newport and around 30 miles from our NP20 base. Inside 10 miles of base there is no fuel charge at all. Beyond that a small fuel charge applies, and it is built into the quote you are given rather than added on later — so the number you see is still the number you pay.
Is it cheaper than hiring a skip?
It depends on the job, and we will not pretend one number settles it. A skip on the road needs a council permit, sits on your drive for days, and still leaves you doing every bit of the lifting. Once that labour is counted, a photo-quoted load with the crew included often comes out level or better. For a long renovation you fill slowly over weeks, a skip may genuinely suit you better.
